המטרה הכללית של המחקר היא לאסוף מידע על העבודה עם בעיות באכילה בפרקטיקה קלינית באוסטרליה, עם ארבע מטרות מפורטות:
1 לזהות דפוסי הפניה וצרכי למידה של אנשי מקצוע בתחום הבריאות.
2. לתאר את התצפיות של אנשי מקצוע בתחום הבריאות על בררנות.
3. לתאר את ההערכות, ההתערבויות ומדדי התוצאה שבהם משתמשים אנשי מקצוע בתחום הבריאות.
4. כדי לבחון האם מרפאים בעיסוק נבדלים מאנשי מקצוע אחרים בתחום הבריאות בשימוש שלהם בהערכות, התערבויות ומדדי תוצאה.
